I write literary fiction and historical fiction with an epic “feel.” I also write essays and memoirs. 

I’m serious about my writing, and about offering my readers something special—an extravagant literary buffet, a lasting impression, an engaging reading experience.

As I seek to leave my mark on the literary landscape, I’ll be sharing my successes and failures here from time to time—including information about published and pending works and where to find them.

Tom Leonard is a lifelong resident of the upper Great Lakes region. Following his graduation from Michigan State University, he was employed as a  social worker, specializing in services to the mentally ill. Changing careers in midlife, he became one of Michigan’s leading advocates for environmental causes. He lobbied for public policy improvements in air, land, and water use; defended wildlife habitat; and was an early proponent of clean energy, climate protection, and sustainable business practices. Now he writes fiction. His work examines the American character and mythos. Legally blind, he writes with the help of assistive technology. He lives with his wife Susan and their two cats, Ursula and Theodore.
